Hey Guys!
I had some free time a while ago and decided to go ahead and try out the Freeman mask I bought in July. This one is called the Renewing Cucumber Peel – Off Mask. I’ve always wanted to try a peel-off mask after seeing people on social media going taatie over the Pilaten Face Peel-Off Mask . This one is obviously not the same but I got the novelty of the peel. So I will be doing a review for you guys today. Let’s get to it!
Just a warning… the pictures below do look quite nasty lol!
♥ Ingredients
Water/aqua/eau, polyvinyl alcohol, sd alcohol, 40-b/alcohol denat, peg-8, glycerin, propylene glycol, musa sapientum (banana) fruit extract, cocos nucifera (coconut) extract, zingiber officinale (ginger) root extract, psidium guajava fruit extract, cymbopogon schoenanthus extract, carica papaya (papaya) fruit extract, maranta arundinacea root extract, rubus idaeus (raspberry) fruit extract, santalum album (sandalwood) extract, macrocystis pyrifera extract, nasturtium officinale extract, aleurites moluccana extract, phenoxyethanol, panthenol, allantoin, aloe barbadensis leaf juice, cucumis sativus (cucumber) fruit extract, sodium pca, ascorbic acid, tocopheryl acetate, polysorbate 20, methylchloroisothiazolinone, methylisothiazolinone, fragrance (parfum), butylphenyl methylpropional, citronellol, hexyl cinnamal, blue 1 (CI 42090).
♥ Price
I decided to purchase the 15ml sachet and it costed me R27.95. You could also buy the 150ml tube for R92.95. This does work out cheaper than buying the sachets but I prefer buying these as I don’t want to commit to just one mask, I wanna try out a few different types.
♥ Claims
A cooling, skin-quenching mask that gently peels away impurities that can cause skin to be rough and dull. Cucumber and Aloe help soothe while moisturizing, ensuring skin feels soft and silky-smooth after every use. Perfect for normal to combination skin.
♥ My Thoughts
This mask is messy af! The consistency is super sticky and if you don’t work carefully you will get it on your hands and clothes, etc. After opening I also saw that it was too runny to use straight from the sachet. I usually use my Avon flat foundation brush to apply my Avon mask straight from the tube. I could see this wasn’t going to work like that. I decided to decant the mask in a small bowl and use it from there. And besides… It made for a pretty blog picture lol!.
You need to apply an even layer on your clean dry face. After applying the mask I did notice that it moves a little bit, as in it’s about to drip. I applied it around my brows but because it shifted I got some on my brows.
The first thing that hit me was the scent. For me it was too harsh. Chemical like. I just about tolerated it. I prayed that I wasn’t going to have a bad reaction. That’s how harsh the smell was. As the time went it seemed to tone down a abit.
As I was waiting for the mask to dry I could immediately feel a nice cooling, tingling sensation. The drying time is said to be 10 to 15 minutes. For me it took way longer because I applied it quite thickly as I wanted it to peel off easily.
Once it was dry I started the peeling process which was soooooooo satisfying lol! I managed to get some product on my hairline (smart I know) and struggled to peel. Other than that it was easy to remove.
My skin felt completely refreshed and so squeaky clean. My face also looked brighter. I was obviously a happy chappy at this stage. But then! I decided to moisturize my skin with my regular moisturizer. The one I use is a very light gel as I don’t like heavy feeling lotion on my face as I tend to sweat a lot. I immediately started feeling discomfort. My face started feeling warm and it looked very red. Immediately I rinsed my face, patted dry and that soothed my skin a bit.
I don’t know exactly what happened because after removing the mask my skin felt great. It only happened after I moisturized. I use this moisturizer everyday and I have never had any kind of reaction to it. What I’m thinking is that something in the two different products must have had a negative reaction. Luckily I didn’t suffer any burns or anything like that.
Would I repurchase this mask? No I won’t. Even though my face felt awesome after removing it, I am just too scared I will have another bad reaction. This is also another reason why I purchase the sachets. A tube would definitely have been a waste.
Overall I found the mask okay. I enjoyed peeling it off. It left my skin feeling clean, refreshed, rejuvenated and bright. Up until the moisturizer that is. This was my experience and I can’t say how the mask would fair on your skin.
Will you give this mask a go? Leave a comment below as to what affordable masks I should try next.

Thanks for sharing 🙂 It’s always so scary when skin has a weird reaction to something. I had a reaction to a mask with volcanic ash in it and my skin was bright red for days!

Eek….glad it wasn’t worse. I will probably not try this one then. I love the Cettua Sheet masks from Clicks (though there was one that burnt my skin a bit, wish I knew which one…so I don’t repurchase). The tara and jack masks are great. And I love the skin republic masks from Dischem.
